Where's my refund? › IRS app

IRS2Go is now the IRS app

On September 25, 2026, the IRS replaced IRS2Go with the new IRS app. Sign in and it shows your refund and amended-return status, balance, payments, notices and transcripts. IRS2Go users get it as an update to the app they already have.

What you can do in the IRS app

  • Check refund and amended-return status
  • View available balance information
  • Make payments and review payment activity
  • View select notices and letters
  • Access available tax records and transcripts
  • Manage some profile and communication preferences
  • Access your Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)

The account features need a secure sign-in to your IRS Individual Online Account. Business and tax professional accounts are still on IRS.gov only.

Getting it

The IRS app is free on the Apple App Store and Google Play. If you already had IRS2Go with automatic updates on, it became the IRS app through a normal update; you don't need a separate download. Use the official store listings or the links on IRS.gov. The IRS warns about look-alike apps, ads and unsolicited messages claiming to give access to IRS accounts, and it won't ask for sensitive information by unsolicited text, email or pop-up.

When will my refund show up?

Status usually appears about 24 hours after the IRS accepts an e-filed return. For expected dates, see the IRS refund schedule 2027 or the refund date calculator. Amended returns take longer: see where's my amended return. If your transcript shows codes you don't recognize, see IRS transcript codes.
